Applications are open for the MAP Academy & Nalli Fellowships dedicated to fostering critical research on the textile traditions of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Tibet and the Maldives).
Four Research Fellowships, each with a grant of INR 5,50,000 will be awarded to support one year of an ongoing, or a new, project. At the end of the Fellowship period, written or audio-visual output are expected; these will be hosted on the MAP Academy website.
Applications are open till October 15th 2025.
Individual researchers, designers, archivists, journalists, writers, educators and practitioners are all encouraged to apply, as are collectives and non-profit organisations. We are looking for project proposals based on underexplored textiles, particularly those with a focus on their historical, ecological, religious and socioeconomic dimensions. Submissions will be assessed by an Advisory Committee comprising of textile experts, based on the responses in the Application Form, which will also double as the project proposal. Incomplete application forms will not be considered.
Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed via an online video call, after which a final selection will be made.
If you have any further queries, please write to us at [email protected].
Warm regards,
The MAP Academy Team
