Impart
Originally founded in 2022, Impart (formerly MAP Academy) is an online platform that encourages greater engagement with South Asia’s art and cultural histories. We build inclusive and free resources for people to better access these histories, and believe that the story of art across the region should be presented in a comprehensive and nuanced way.
Our aim is to act as a bridge between museums, universities, cultural organisations, and the public to make knowledge about these histories more available to a wider audience.
Impart is a unit of the Art & Photography Foundation, Bengaluru, and an institutional partner of the Museum of Art & Photography.
Our offerings include:
- An Encyclopedia of Art with articles and definitions covering key artists, techniques, objects, materials, movements, and social and cultural shifts across the region.
- Learning resources, including introductory online courses and live lectures with our network of scholars, researchers, curators, and artists.
- Editorial Perspectives, exploring South Asia’s visual culture in a contemporary light through commissioned essays and interviews.
- Special Projects, including partnerships with cultural institutions and grants for researchers, writers, and artists.
