□ DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee) and Keimyung University (President Ilhi Synn) will cultivate the next generation of physician-scientists (MD-Ph.D.) to lead future medical innovations.
□ On the 28th of this month, the two universities signed an MOU outlining collaborative efforts in undergraduate curricula, joint and dual graduate degree programs, and innovative research initiatives. These efforts aim to develop global leaders who integrate medicine with science and technology.
□ The agreement combines the core strengths of both institutions to play a pivotal role in nurturing physician-scientists. DGIST leads global medical innovation with cutting-edge technology and research, excels in biomedical engineering and brain science, and focuses on advancing medical imaging, nanotechnology, and AI-based medical solutions.
□ Keimyung University’s College of Medicine operates the on-campus Dongsan Hospital, which offers extensive clinical experience and practical medical knowledge. The hospital excels in patient care, clinical trials, and creating innovative medical solutions.
□ Together, the universities will merge DGIST’s technological expertise with Keimyung University’s clinical experience to create a research environment that utilizes advanced technologies to train individuals who will spearhead medical innovations, including precision medicine and new drug development. A steering committee, equally representing both institutions, will oversee key aspects such as curriculum development for the physician-scientist program.
