DGIST Collaborates with Daegu Seongseo Industrial Complex Management Corporation to Foster Talented Individuals in AI-based Technology Business Management

- Strengthen industry–academia collaboration and establish a practice-oriented AI interdisciplinary education system

□ Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST; President Kunwoo Lee) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Daegu Seongseo Industrial Complex Management Corporation (Chairman Taegeun Seong) on October 17, 2025 (Fri) to develop talented individuals in artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology business management and strengthen industry–academia collaboration.

 

□ This MoU is intended to improve innovation competitiveness in local industrial complexes amid a rapidly changing industrial environment and foster job practice-oriented talents by combining AI technology and management skills. Under the MoU, the two parties will collaborate across various fields, including (i) developing AI-based technology business management experts; (ii) jointly developing and operating a curriculum in connection with industry; (iii) operating job practice and internship programs for employees and graduate students; (vi) conducting joint research and development and projects; and (v) hosting joint events, such as seminars, workshops, and conferences.

 

□ “If we combine DGIST’s cutting-edge research capabilities with the practical experience of companies in the Seongseo Industrial Complex, we will be able to develop practical AI talents who can immediately work in the industry,” said Chairman Taegeun Seong of Daegu Seongseo Industrial Complex Management Corporation. “We hope that this MoU will serve as a milestone in speeding up the digital transformation of local industries.”

 

□ “This MoU is a meaningful first step in closely connecting local industrial sites and technology business management education,” said Dean Wujin Chu of the DGIST Graduate School of Technology and Innovation Management. “Based on DGIST’s education and research infrastructure, we will foster talented individuals in AI-based technology business management needed by the industry and help local industries to drive innovation growth.”

 

□ With this MoU, DGIST will expand collaboration with local industries, including those in the Seongseo Industrial Complex, and promote AI-technology business management interdisciplinary education and joint industry–academia projects, as well as various collaboration projects to build a sustainable innovation ecosystem.

 

□ Meanwhile, the DGIST Graduate School of Technology and Innovation Management is currently recruiting new students for 2025. The recruitment process focuses on cutting-edge interdisciplinary courses such as AI-based technology business management, innovation strategy, technology commercialization, and data-based decision-making. The school offers a curriculum that allows students to strengthen their academic degree and practical skills at the same time while gaining industry experience.
