DGIST Opens Graduate School of Engineering Practice Gumi Campus… Opening a new chapter in local industrial innovation!

- Fostering field-ready professionals to lead future high-tech industries such as semiconductors, AI, and robotics - Expected to strengthen local industrial competitiveness by invigorating research based on industry–academia collaboration

□ On the 13th, DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee) held an opening ceremony for “DGIST Graduate School of Engineering Practice Gumi Campus” (hereinafter referred to as “DGIST GSEP”), which became fully operational. DGIST GSEP is expected to play a pivotal role in nurturing core technical talents needed by local industries and driving practical technological innovation through industry–academia collaboration.

□ DGIST GSEP is an industry–academia collaboration-based engineering school established in cooperation between DGIST and Gumi City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, with a total investment of KRW 2 billion. It provides customized education for high-tech industry areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and robotics. DGIST President Lee Kun-woo, Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho, and other local industry leaders will attend the opening ceremony, which will be held at DGIST Gumi Campus on the 13th at 2:00 p.m., to celebrate the creation of a new local innovation ecosystem.

□ DGIST GSEP provides customized education and a state-of-the-art research environment tailored to industrial field needs and operates hands-on research and industrial collaboration projects in advanced industries such as semiconductors, AI, and robotics. As the first batch of students, 13 employees from 12 companies have been admitted. They have been receiving hands-on training since March of this year. This training is expected to enhance the technological competitiveness of local industries while contributing to the creation of new technologies.

□ “As a research-oriented university, DGIST provides customized education that reflects the needs of the industry and contributes to the development of national and regional industries,” said DGIST President Lee. “Through DGIST GSEP, we will further strengthen industry–academia collaboration and lead innovation together with industry.”

□ “The opening of DGIST GSEP Gumi Campus is an important turning point for the continued growth and competitiveness of local industries,” said Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho. “We will spare no effort to help Gumi’s semiconductor, defense, and robotics industries become globally competitive.”

□ DGIST plans to expand its collaboration with companies to promote practical technological innovation and further develop its education and research models in line with global industry trends. It will also establish systematic education programs to nurture future convergence talents and establish itself as a strategic base that contributes to the advancement of the national economy and local industries through cooperation with domestic and foreign research institutes and industries.
