□ DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee) has been officially selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy’s 2025 Professional Development Program in Global Advanced Strategic Industry Technology Management. This national initiative aims to cultivate master’s and doctoral-level professionals in technology management within advanced strategic industries, strengthen the technology management capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises, and foster talent to lead global technology commercialization. DGIST was selected as a recipient institution for its well-defined objectives and prior establishment of strong human and physical resources. The institute will focus on specialized courses, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics.
□ To ensure the successful implementation of this program, DGIST is planning to establish the Graduate School of Technology Management, set to open in early 2026. The institute will operate a preparatory task force in the first half of 2025 and recruit new students in September 2025, aiming to officially launch the school in March 2026. To enhance the competitiveness of emerging future industries in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region—such as robotics, AI, and smart cities—DGIST will offer practice-oriented education in collaboration with industry partners.
□ The Graduate School of Technology Management at DGIST will offer a distinctive, practice-oriented curriculum built around specialized courses in AI and robotics. In the first year, students will be required to complete core courses in engineering technology, global management, and technology commercialization. In the second year, tailored training will be provided in advanced industries such as AI and robotics to further enhance students’ practical capabilities. In addition, the program aims to promote joint research and industry–academia collaboration projects in partnership with global companies and overseas institutions to foster globally competitive talent in technology management.
□ President Lee Kun-woo of DGIST stated, “In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, cultivating talent capable of integrating technology and management is essential. Leveraging DGIST’s research capabilities and experience in technology commercialization, we aim to nurture globally competitive professionals in technology management and contribute to strengthening both regional and national industrial competitiveness.
□ In addition to the Graduate School of Technology Management, DGIST plans to expand the global industrial ecosystem—centered on regionally based industries and local talent—by establishing a Global Campus in Suseong Alphacity and a Graduate School of Engineering in Gumi. These efforts are expected to enhance national competitiveness and present a new education model led by a science and technology university, driving innovation in advanced industries.
