The Future of Climate Change and the Marine Environment – Towards Sustainable Oceans

This Forum will be held on 18 March 2025 in Kobe, Japan, and will be hybrid (on-site and virtual).

The Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), in collaboration with the Hyogo Prefectural Government, Hyogo Environmental Advancement Association and the International Center for Environmental Management of Enclosed Coastal Seas, will hold the “The Future of Climate Change and the Marine Environment – Towards Sustainable Oceans.”

The ocean plays a vital role in our daily lives. As climate change continues to intensify, how can we protect our marine environment? This forum, themed "Sustainable Oceans," will bring together distinguished researchers from Japan and abroad to share the latest insights on the state of the marine environment and innovative approaches to addressing its challenges.

The forum will include a keynote speech from Prof. Yusuke Uchiyama from the Department of Civil Engineering, Kobe University. The keynote speech will be followed by the introduction of overseas cases by Dr Susanne M. Brander from Oregon State University and Dr Amanda Ford from the University of the South Pacific.
