□ DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee) announced that it has been selected for the “Regional Innovation and Startup Promotion Support Program” led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and will launch the “Daegu Deep-Tech Startup Hub Development Project,” with a total budget of KRW 3.5 billion, in partnership with Daegu Metropolitan City. Through the project, DGIST plans to establish a deep-tech startup hub in Dongdaegu Venture Valley that combines high-performance AI computing infrastructure with startup spaces and to systematically support the growth and long-term development of promising technology startups in the region.
□ The Daegu Deep-Tech Startup Hub will be established at the Daegu Content Center in Dongdaegu Venture Valley. The project will provide local deep-tech startups with shared access to high-performance computing resources, specialized equipment, and workspaces needed for technology development, while establishing a foundation for business growth that connects technology development with demonstration and commercialization.
□ The hub will include (1) dedicated spaces for deep-tech startups; (2) coworking, meeting, and investor relations (IR) spaces; (3) GPU-based AI computing infrastructure; and (4) equipment for analysis, simulation, and demonstration support. In particular, the hub will improve access to high-performance computing resources and specialized equipment that early-stage startups often find difficult to secure independently, helping them reduce the cost and time required for technology development and strengthen their competitiveness in commercialization.
□ A total of KRW 3.5 billion will be invested in the project, comprising KRW 2.45 billion in central government funding and KRW 1.05 billion in local government funding. Preliminary and detailed design work on the project will begin in 2026. Following the completion of space renovations and equipment installation in 2027, the hub is scheduled to begin full-scale operations after tenant companies are recruited and selected.
□ Building on its research and technological capabilities and experience in startup support, DGIST will work with Daegu Metropolitan City and local startup support organizations to establish a deep-tech startup support system that seamlessly connects technology development, demonstration, and commercialization. Going forward, DGIST plans to support tenant companies by providing access to research infrastructure, technical support, and connections to commercialization opportunities, thereby helping promising companies grow and establish themselves in the region.
□ “This project will provide an opportunity to connect DGIST’s research and technological capabilities with the growth of local startups and further strengthen the foundation for deep-tech entrepreneurship in Daegu,” said DGIST President Kunwoo Lee. “We will actively support the Daegu Deep-Tech Startup Hub so that it can establish itself as a leading regional startup hub where outstanding technology companies can grow and new innovations can continuously emerge.”

□ Meanwhile, centered on the Daegu Deep-Tech Startup Hub, DGIST plans to connect the region’s research, technology, and startup capabilities; develop Dongdaegu Venture Valley into a leading deep-tech startup hub representing Daegu; and contribute to building an ecosystem for emerging industries of the future.
