Assoc. Prof. Dr. Puvadol Doydee
He obtained his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Fisheries from Kasetsart University (KU), Bangkok, Thailand, in 1998. Since then, he has worked in the fields of fisheries biology and water resources management as a government fisheries biologist. In 2000, he was awarded a full scholarship from SEAMEO-SEARCA to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Information Technology for Natural Resources Management, with an emphasis on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing, at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Bogor, Indonesia, graduating in 2002. In 2005, he received a DAAD-SEARCA full scholarship to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Science at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), completing the degree in 2008.
He served as a team leader in the exchange student program between KU and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), USA, in 2003. In 2004, he was selected by the organizing committee of CZAP 2004 to present his research as an oral presentation in Brisbane, Australia. Additionally, he gained experience working on the Coastal Habitat Resources Management (CHARM) Project, hosted at the Department of Fisheries (DoF), collaborating with international consultants as a local coordinator in 2004. During his tenure in the Philippines, he was elected by international students and served as President of the International Students Association (ISA) at UPLB from 2006 to 2007. In 2009, he was selected by panels from EPPSEA, Singapore, to present his research proposal in Hanoi, Vietnam. In 2010, he attended a regional course on environmental economics in the Philippines and was selected as an exchange researcher to conduct research on fisheries remote sensing at Hokkaido University (HU), Japan.
In August 2011, he participated in the Asian Economic Community (AEC) program, collaborating with teams from Thailand, Lao PDR, China, and Vietnam as a team leader on aquatic environment and fisheries management issues. In December 2013, he presented on the application of geospatial technologies at the 4th International Conference on Conservation Agriculture (CA) in Battambang, Cambodia. In 2016, he developed the RACA system to support small-scale farmers in mitigating disaster risks and adapting to climate change.
Currently, his research focuses on aquatic ecosystems and water resources management. He served as the KU-WEF Nexus Coordinator from 2020 to 2024, appointed by Kasetsart University. He is also an advisor to the Dean of International Affairs at his institute. An alumnus of the ASEAN-U.S. Science and Technology Fellowship and a science diplomat representing ASEAN in 2017, his current research emphasizes remote sensing technologies for aquatic ecosystems, climate change adaptation, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), employing a multidisciplinary and socio-ecological systems (SES) approach. Additionally, he serves as the KU-Asia Hub Coordinator.
