Dr Wan Faridah Akmal Jusoh

Wan F. A. Jusoh is currently a Senior Lecturer in Biodiversity and Conservation and serves as the Honours Program Director (Malaysia) at the School of Science, Monash University Malaysia. Her research focuses on the intersection of biodiversity and the history of natural heritage, ranging from studying flashing fireflies to reconstructing timelines of how ecosystems have evolved.

With her background in environmental research and advocacy, Wan previously served as a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore, where she worked on virtual repatriation of Singapore's natural heritage. Her dedication to conservation took shape during her tenure as a field biologist at WWF-Malaysia, where she led initiatives to safeguard wetlands in Terengganu. In addition to her academic and research, Wan serves as a Co-Chair of the IUCN Species Survival Commission Firefly Specialist Group. In 2025, she was recognised as one of the Explorers Club 50 honouree for the class of 2025.
