We are pleased to inform you that the School of Industrial Technology, Universiti Sains Malaysia, in collaboration with Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) would be organising the “ISO 22000-2005 Workshop: An Integrated Food Safety Management System” from 27-29 March 2007 at the Dewan Persidangan, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
The workshop will be conducted by John S. Surak, Professor Emeritus at the Clemson University, USA. Dr Surak currently holds positions in both the industry and academia where he leads and consults on the development of process control, business analytics, food safety and quality management systems.
ISO 22000 food safety management systems as a requirement for any organisation in the food chain was published in September 2005. Presently, food corporations rely on a diverse food safety management system in ensuring food safety. With the advent of globalization, increasing international trade and concerns for food safety, the food industry realised that there is a need for an international auditable standard defining food safety management along the entire food chain.
Objectives - At the end of the training course, participants should have acquired a comprehensive understanding of the ISO 22000 requirements and the necessary skills in establishing the Food Safety Management System.
