International Jatropha Conference 2008

Jatropha curcas is believed to hold promise for sustainable energy and welfare. This conference will provide a forum, where all concerned, may change ideas, information and knowledge to enhance the development of biofuel from Jatropha curcas.

June 24th-25th, 2008 – IPB International Convention Center, Bogor, Indonesia
June 26th, 2008 – Fieldtrip to Jatropha Plantation

The development of Jatropha curcas as future energy crop is developing all over the world. It is believed that the plant holds particular promise for sustainable energy and welfare. In recent years, under many universities and research centers, Jatropha has shown as a major interest on research topic. Along this research, superior clone of Jatropha with high productivity and low cost effective biofuel production are the one broad of goal.

Jatropha oil as biodiesel feedstock is prospective due to the stock is categorized as non edible oil which the availability will not threaten by food purposes. However, in order to make a differences in the live for poor people as both energy producer and consumer and to make economic contribution, biofuel technology based on jatropha curcas needs further investment which is supporting by wide broad information resulting from many researches. It is necessary to have a forum to provide and inventory the real information and data how far the jatropha's researches developed in the world. The data based is important to develop Jatropha curcas business in the near future.

Regarding to things mentioned above, Surfactant and Bioenergy Research Centre – Bogor Agricultural University collaboration with PT. Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa will conduct an International Jatropha Conference 2008 with a theme "Researches for Near Future Business". The conference is endorsed by Indonesian Center for Estate Crops Research and Development and Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This activity will provide a forum, where all concerned, may change ideas, information and knowledge to enhance the development of biofuel from Jatropha curcas.

We invite you to join this conference as a speaker, poster presenter, or participant.
