Inaugural International Soft Science Expo 2009

Soft Science contributions to the world cannot be denied now or in the future. This conference will provide an avenue for scholars and business sectors to exchange views and experiences, formulate strategies, forge academic fraternities, and contribute positively towards the continued development of a Soft Science perspective.

The importance of Soft Science has never been more demanding. Countries that have long neglected or sidelined its disciplines are giving it new impetus particularly to its relevance and in the process fresh resources are being channeled towards its prominence and outlook. Soft Science contributions to the world cannot be denied. However, its recent gains and footholds have to be reckoned with, with multitudes of practitioners willing to part with large amounts of money to gain whatever benefits Soft Science can offer, now or in the future. Though an offshoot of the west, it is now no more its domain. In fact no one can claim dominance of the ‘tentacles’ of its disciplines that are spreading far and near affecting world leaders and ordinary people alike. Knowing Soft Science is a ‘passport’ to the major ports of the world.

Once the confines of business per se, it is pervading into all aspects of the commercial life, touching everyone in its spread. With such a move, we need to have a fresh look at our approaches, to be better prepared for this pervasive move. It is hoped that this conference will be a resounding success in arresting some of the rut that exist in the world of Soft Science. We look forward to some innovative discoveries, renewal of existing modes and most importantly strengthen the existing fraternity. With the onslaught of various disciplines in Soft Science, new lifelines have to be explored.

This conference is here to provide such an avenue - to provide a forum for scholars and business sectors to exchange views and experiences, formulate strategies, forge academic fraternities, and, all in all, contribute positively towards the continued development of a Soft Science perspective. As such it has been aptly themed Soft Science: Contributions toward Nation Building - the aim among others being to popularize Soft Science as a powerful asset that we should cherish and treasure. Towards achieving the objectives of the conference, 30 prominent local and international scholars will present various case studies on 15 Soft Science disciplines.
