The Impart + Nalli Fellowships are now inviting applications for its fourth edition (2027–28).
The Fellowship programme supports research into underexplored textile histories, practices, and traditions across South Asia — including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Tibet.
Two Research Fellowships of INR 5,50,000 each will be awarded to support a year of independent research and project development. The Fellowship period will run from January to December 2027.
The grant supports both new and ongoing projects, and we welcome a range of approaches, including journalistic inquiry, documentary film, archive initiatives, practice-based research, digitisation and documentation projects, exhibitions, and books, among others.
The submission deadline is 31 August 2026.
Eligibility
The Fellowship is open to applicants aged 18 years or older, residing anywhere in the world, whose proposed projects engage with textile practices across the wider South Asia region. We welcome applications from early- and mid-career researchers, designers, archivists, journalists, writers, educators, practitioners, collectives, and small organisations.
