President Qin highlighted a record-breaking intake of over 1,300 new undergraduates, who are the Class 2028, and3,300 new postgraduates this year. This growth reflects the increasing attractiveness of Lingnan and the high-quality education it provides. To help students thrive in the digital era, Lingnan established the School of Data Science this year, and the new curricula combine AI with humanities, business, and social sciences, extending students’ interdisciplinary knowledge, equipping them with technical skills, and enabling them to assess the societal implications of these technologies. For future leaders, AI literacy andethical awareness will be essential, which is why the integration of the arts and sciences has become a cornerstone of Lingnan.
President Qin addressed the graduates with heartfelt advice: “As you start this new chapter in the digital age, remember that while technology is a powerful tool, how you use it is what really counts. Your creativity, values, and ideas will shape the way human beings interact with these tools. The world needs leaders who can use technology to create a fair, inclusive, and sustainable future. Your whole-person education has equipped you with the skills to think about these issues, to act decisively, and to find solutions that benefit everyone.”
Recognising that these graduates’ journeys arejust starting, President Qin added that he looks forward to the invaluable contributions they will make to promote global well-being in the years to come.
