The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is Singapore’s lead government agency dedicated to fostering world-class scientific research and talent for a vibrant knowledge-based economy. 

A*STAR actively nurtures public sector research and development in Biomedical Sciences, and Physical Sciences & Engineering, and spurs growth in Singapore's key economic clusters by providing human, intellectual and industrial capital to its partners in industry and the healthcare sector.

As a Science and Technology Organisation, A*STAR bridges the gap between academia and industry in terms of research and development.

In addition, A*STAR also contributes to societal benefits such as improving outcomes in healthcare, urban living, and sustainability, in Singapore and beyond.

A*STAR currently oversees more than 20 research institutes, consortia and centres located in Biopolis and Fusionopolis and their vicinity, and supports extramural research with the universities, hospital research centres, as well as other local and international partners.
