DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee), a science and technology-focused university based in Daegu, Korea, is fostering future innovators through advanced research and education in AI, robotics, neuroscience, biotechnology, and mobility. The university is now expanding its global partnerships while connecting scientific research with education, entrepreneurship, and industry.
At the heart of this initiative is DGIST’s newly established College of AI, which will serve as a key hub for nurturing the next generation of AI talent. The College comprises three departments—Physical AI, Medical AI, and AI-X—with undergraduate programs launching in 2027 and graduate programs to be introduced in phases beginning in Fall 2027.
Its curriculum is designed as a seamless pathway from AI fundamentals to advanced disciplinary study, research, and entrepreneurship, giving students opportunities from the undergraduate level to tackle real-world challenges in both laboratories and industrial settings. By closely linking education and research with key regional industries—including robotics, mobility, medical devices, and manufacturing—DGIST aims to develop AI professionals who will drive innovation across both the region and the nation.
DGIST is also strengthening its global network in technology management. Its Graduate School of Technology Innovation and Management (GSTIM) is partnering with École des Ponts Business School at France’s École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC) to promote student and faculty exchanges, joint education, executive programs for deep-tech startups, and Korea-France industrial collaboration. By combining DGIST’s scientific capabilities with ENPC’s strengths in engineering and innovation, the partnership aims to expand a global “Lab-to-Market” model that brings research from the laboratory to business and international markets.
DGIST ultimately seeks to cultivate both scientists who understand AI and global leaders who can transform technology into business. By building pathways from Daegu to France, Europe, and beyond, DGIST is creating a new model of education and innovation: locally rooted, yet globally connected.
