□ DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee) announced on Tuesday, November 4, that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National University of Uzbekistan (NUU) for cooperation in technology management and research in science and technology. This MOU was led by DGIST’s Graduate School of Technology and Information Management and aims to strengthen the global research network and create a foundation for attracting outstanding students from abroad.
□ DGIST Graduate School of Technology and Information Management visited Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from November 2 to 7 to promote cooperation and exchange with major local universities and educational institutes, including NUU, Tashkent State Transport University (TSTU), and Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent. Additionally, pre-interviews and information sessions on specialized programs were held for students interested in entering DGIST’s graduate schools, aiming to identify those interested in studying in Korea and to assist with their admission process.
□ Based on the MOU, both universities will promote various collaboration programs in stages, including ▲ Student and Researcher Exchange, ▲ Joint Research Tasks and Projects, ▲ Academic Seminars and Workshops, and ▲ Research and Training Materials. In particular, with full exemption of tuition for exchange students, it is expected to support the operation of substantive exchange and joint education between the two universities.
□ DGIST President Kunwoo Lee stated, “DGIST has cultivated science and technology talents and expanded the technological innovation ecosystem through global collaboration. Through this MOU, we will strengthen educational and research ties with Central Asia and help develop global leaders who will drive technological innovation in the future.”
□ Wujin Chu, Dean of the DGIST Graduate School of Technology and Information Management, said, “This MOU lays the foundation for cooperation in substantive technology management education connecting Korea and Central Asia that reaches far beyond simple academic exchange. We will strengthen our customized education and research system to support excellent local talents to continue their research at DGIST and lead start-up and industrial innovation.”
□ The MOU partner, NUU, is Uzbekistan’s leading national research university that was founded in 1918. NUU has about 34,000 students and more than 1,200 faculty members. Furthermore, it has strong research strengths in physics, math, technology, and science.
□ Through this MOU, DGIST will continue to ▲ expand recruitment of excellent international students in technology management, AI, and engineering, ▲ develop a global industry-academia collaborative research platform in connection with Central Asian industries and companies, ▲ diversify international joint research and educational exchange channels, and ▲ cultivate global technology management experts connected to local industries.
□ Additionally, DGIST Graduate School of Technology and Information Management is accepting new student applications for 2026. The admission process includes advanced, interdisciplinary courses in AI-based technology management, innovation strategy, technology commercialization, and data-driven decision-making. The program offers a curriculum designed to strengthen both academic and practical skills while providing industry experience.
