□ It’s Sensor (Co-CEOs Daechun Kang and Hyunki Lee), a startup from the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST; President Kunwoo Lee), was selected for both the 2025 Super Gap Startup 1000+ Project by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Strategic Technology Research Outcome Commercialization Project by the Ministry of Science and ICT, clinching government grants worth as much as KRW 2.1 billion.
□ It’s Sensor is a tech startup in DGIST, which possesses original technology in high-precision sensors and sensing solutions. The Super Gap Startup 1000+ Project was selected for the differentiation and commercialization potential of its high-precision sensor technology based on optical tracking sensors (OTS), interdisciplinary sensor technology, and certified time-of-flight (ToF) sensor safety technology. Accordingly, It’s Sensor will receive KRW 1.6 billion over the next three years, including an R&D grant of KRW 1 billion and a commercialization grant of KRW 600 million.
□ It was also selected for the Strategic Technology Research Outcome Commercialization Project by the Ministry of Science and ICT, and will receive an additional grant of KRW 500 million over two years to develop an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) specialized for hospital logistics settings. The robot is being commercialized as a precision medical logistics solution to address the needs of an aging population and digital healthcare.
□ The OTS developed by It’s Sensor is a technology that implements ultra-precise position recognition performance of less than 0.3 mm. An autonomous robot based on the OTS was delivered to J Electronics, a primary contractor of global big tech company A, in February 2025 and achieved initial commercialization outcomes.
□ Furthermore, It’s Sensor was selected as the Tech Incubator Program for Startup (TIPS) by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2023. The company proved its technology prowess in both the public and private sectors as it was selected in 2024 for the Daegu City Private Sector Investment-linked Technology Commercialization Support Project (Daegu TIPS) and the Samsung Electronics C-Lab Outside Program.
□ It’s Sensor CEO Daechun Kang said, “With our precision sensor-based autonomous driving technology, we will contribute to greatly improving the safety and efficiency of industrial sites. With the aim of an initial public offering (IPO) in 2028, we will continue to expand our competitiveness in the global robotics solution market.”
□ Meanwhile, in an effort to foster tech startups, DGIST actively supports faculty members, researchers, and students to create a startup, and dedicates itself to establishing a startup ecosystem so that promising startups with the potential to expand around the world can be selected for government and private sector funding projects.
