Miss SHIMI CHAK

Shimi Chak is a climate advocate and Indigenous youth leader. Her interest lies in renewable energy, policy advocacy, and community-led solutions, helping refugees and Indigenous groups adapt to climate change and preserve traditions.

Shimi Chak's research interests focus on the links between environmental change, socio-economic conditions, and community resilience, particularly within Indigenous and vulnerable communities. Her expertise includes assessing the environmental and health impacts of natural rubber latex (NRL) processing, investigating water pollution, soil contamination, and ecosystem degradation through a mixed-methods approach. She emphasizes the need for community-driven solutions to mitigate these effects.

Beyond this, Shimi is deeply committed to energy and climate justice, advocating for equal access to resources and benefits, especially for women in marginalized communities. She is also passionate about collecting stories from vulnerable groups, including coastal residents, refugees, and Indigenous populations, to document their lived experiences with climate change, displacement, and environmental challenges.
