Asian Rice Journalist Award

The first ever Award to acknowledge excellence in writing on rice and rice related issues in Asia. The deadline is September 1st, 2007

Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Asia and the Pacific and the International Federation of Environmental Journalists (IFEJ) proudly announce the launch of the Asian Rice Journalist Award

The first ever Award to acknowledge excellence in writing on rice and rice related issues in Asia!

Rice is Life to the people of Asia, and our most revered treasure. It is central to the Asian way of life; its cultural heritage and diversity, spirituality, and traditions.

We invite your nominations of the best articles on rice and rice related issues written by Asian writers, reporters, journalists or columnists that have been published in the mainstream print media i.e. national newspapers, magazines, journals, as well as on websites of said media.

Time-line of articles under consideration: August 31st 2006 to September 1st 2007.

Closing date: September 1st, 2007

The Award will be conferred on October 16th, 2007, World Food Day!

Those nominating non-English articles are requested to send in a summary translation of the article in English, and a recommendation as to why they are nominating the writer and article.

The Award Winner will receive the following:

- Travel to, and one week’s stay in, the country of her or his choice, from among the Asian countries involved in PAN AP’ Save Our Rice Campaign

- Visits to ecological agriculture or project sites involving rice, organised by PAN AP’s partner groups

- Citations as the “Asian Rice Journalist Award Winner” on various PAN AP and partners WebPages, as well as in media articles generated on the Award.
