Keio University KANRINMARU Project --- tenure track program to support young scientists---

The program, named “Keio KANRINMARU Project” invites applications from around the world for 3 positions as Associate Professor and 10 positions as Assistant Professor.

Keio University KANRINMARU Project sails off to carve out a new age in the fields of “ cell biology” and “metabolism” --- tenure track program to support young scientists---

In 1860, the Kanrinmaru with Yukichi Fukuzawa (the founder of Keio University) and other Japanese youths, sailed off to the rough seas of the Pacific and brought a new era to Japan. In the same spirit, Keio University is establishing a tenure track program to support the young scientists who are engaged in independent researches in the fields of cell biology and metabolism. The program, named “Keio KANRINMARU Project” invites
applications from around the world for 3 positions as Associate Professor and 10 positions as Assistant Professor. This program is established to promote young promising researchers to expand even deeper into their research activities at Keio University and to launch out into the world.

1. Outline of the “Keio KANRINMARU Project”
Over the years, Keio University has spearheaded research efforts with a focus on fields
of regenerative medicine, immunology and a comprehensive analysis of cellular
metabolism and so on. As Keio University has advanced researches in the fields of
medical and life sciences, many researchers have published world-class papers on their
achievements. These efforts have earned wide recognition, including a selection as a
Global COE in Life Sciences and a Global COE in Medicine supported by the Ministry of
Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). To expand even deeper into
these research activities, Keio University is establishing this tenure track program to
support the independent research of young scientists, with support from MEXT*.
*This project is supported by MEXT’s program “Promotion of Environmental
Improvement for Independence of Young Researchers” under the Special
Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology.
