SERDANG, 23rd Dec – The ex-Dean of Universiti Putra Malaysia’s (UPM) School of Graduate Studies, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris has been appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and International Affairs Division, UPM commencing December 1st 2008 and the terms is for a period of three years.
Dr. Aini Ideris’s appointment was to replace the previous associate, Prof. Datin Paduka Khatijah Mohd Yusoff who currently served as the Deputy Secretary General with Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
During a brief interview, Dr. Aini expressed her determination to amplify the academic performance of UPM at the university and international level.
“It is my great hope that I contribute to the upgrading of UPM’s academic performance in terms of capability, knowledge, work performance and the publication of high impact journals,” she said.
She also put a mention that she hopes to broaden the industrial network with international universities through the involvement of teaching and learning.
Dr. Aini obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Degree (DVM) degree in 1979 from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, and then she served UPM as a tutor and later pursued Masters in Veterinary Science (MVSc) degree at the University of Liverpool, England in 1981. She was finally conferred a PhD by UPM and University of Queensland Australia in 1989.
To date, she has over 400 publications to her credit and an esteemed member of local editorial panel as well as international level.
