Universiti Sains Malaysia recently hosted two programmes on national television, the Gen Y TV1 Programme and a Forum on Islamic Issues. The programmes were held on Saturday, 4 July 2009 at 2.30 p.m.at Dewan Budaya, USM and on Tuesday, 7 July 2009 at 8.30 p.m.at Dewan Tuanku Syed Putra, USM, Penang.
The Gen Y TV1 Programme to be hosted by well-known TV host, Awal Ashaari discussed the topic 'Teknologi Hijau Dunia Lestari' (Green Technology for a Sustainable World). Among other issues, the programme discussed USM’s efforts to implement sustainability-related activities in the campus. The programme was shown live on RTM TV1 at the stipulated times.
Meanwhile, the Forum on Islamic Issues, expected to be telecast during Ramadhan will discuss two topics, that is, '9 Pintu-Pintu Rezeki'(9 Doors to Good Fortune)and ‘Lestari Alam, Lestari Ummah' (‘Sustainable Environment, Sustainable Ummah’). The Forum, co-organised by RTM, JAKIM, Bank Islam and USM invited distinguished Islamic scholars in the country.
