PolyU and Russian universities join forces to strengthen research excellence

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University joined hands with sister institutions in Hong Kong and Macau to hold the Alliance of Sino-Russian Technical Universities.

Russia, with its geographical location on the land route of the "One Belt One Road", has gained prominence in the global research arena. Against this backdrop, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) joined hands with sister institutions in Hong Kong and Macau to hold the Alliance of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU) "One Belt One Road" Southern trip Kick-off Ceremony on 30 November on PolyU campus, exploring Hong Kong and Russia research collaboration opportunities.

The ASRTU "One Belt One Road" Southern trip Kick-off Ceremony was officiated by Professor Philip Chan, PolyU Deputy President and Provost. It was also attended by Presidents and senior officers of seven leading Russian universities, including Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Gubkin Russian State of University of Oil and Gas, Saint Petersburg Electro-technical University (LETI), Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, Ural Federal University and Association of the Classical Universities of Russia. All of them are constituent members of the ASRTU, a well-established university network which PolyU holds membership.

PolyU representatives and their Russian counterparts engaged in dialogue to explore future collaboration opportunities in niche area research and the nurturing of PhD students.
