Minister of Higher Education Launches USM's APEX Transformation Plan

Malaysia’s Minister of Higher Education Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin launched the Accelerated Programme for Excellence (APEX) Transformation Plan for University Science Malaysia (USM)

Malaysia’s Minister of Higher Education Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin launched the Accelerated Programme for Excellence (APEX) Transformation Plan for University Science Malaysia (USM), on Thursday, 26 February 2009, at 11.15am in Cultural Hall, USM Penang, Malaysia.

Prior to that, Dato’ Seri Khaled Nordin visited several excellence centre within USM including National APEX Development Indicator centre – which is the centre for recording APEX progress and its achievement.

He also launched the new function of Malaysia’s Archeology Research Centre as the global centre inline with the centre’s aim to establish systematic research planning and collaboration among the nation’s scientists and international scientists by using multidisciplinary research and scientific methods.

Also on the same day, USM Vice Chancellor Prof. Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak presented the Smart Energy Driver Award USM 2009.

The award was established in conjunction with Smart Energy Driver Campaign – organized by final year students of Persuasive Communication, School of Communication with the aim of creating awareness among campus community and its surroundings, on the importance of saving energy.

Among the programmes promoted throughout the campaign period in January included the usage of technology and NGV, Fuel Enhancer, new research on saving fuel such as vehicles running on low energy, hybrid cars, cars running on electricity and hydrogen.
