Trauma resulting from falls in the elderly is one of the most significant causes of injury and death. Besides the physical injuries, fall in elderly also has psychological consequences which reduce the independence of the person. Fall detection is therefore very important for welfare of the senior citizens and their family. Our system has a real-time module and an offline module.

The real-time module records and analyzes the motion data from the wearer using several low-complexity methods. The results are used to generate a real-time indication of the motion pattern and generate alarm when a fall is detected.

Since the device has enough memory to save motion and related data continuously for months, in the device, various types of motion activities of subjects can be classified and graded offline.

Special Features and Advantages:

• Can be applied to fall detection of the elderly and infant
• Can be applied to detect sudden motion of other users under
surveillance
• Provide daily activity information (like walking, sitting posture) for
health worker to design better caring of user quality of living
• Large data storage capacity
• Real-time pulse rate monitoring
• Emergency button

Application:

The motion data is be continuously recorded in a MicroSD card for a
long period. And the data is used to predict the risk level of potential
fall. For the real-time fall detection, our device can be more accurate
as we use both the current and past motion data.
