Integrated micro-Environmental Monitoring System for Construction Sites

An automatic real-time monitoring system that can effectively assess and analyse the micro-environment in construction sites

On-site micro-environment measurement in a construction site (left) and micro-environment measurement at a bus terminal.

The Integrated micro-Environmental Monitoring System (IEMS) aims to provide an effective service platform for environmental monitoring in construction sites, with the ability to incorporate the real-time environmental information into a Building Information Modelling (BIM) platform. IEMS can also enhance current on-site risk assessment, while raising the awareness of environmental quality of construction sites.

Special Features and Advantages
• Monitoring of different environment parameters, fully automated and continuous data collection and analysis
• Real-time monitoring and health risk/hazard screening in construction sites
• Integrated system with mobile and station-based monitoring devices, server, and mobile application
• Outputs from the system can also be incorporated into a BIM platform

Applications
• Micro-environment monitoring for construction sites
• Micro-environmental data collection and monitoring for specific areas other than construction sites (e.g. bus
terminals and shopping malls)
• Widely applicable for different environments, e.g. personal household monitoring
