Conference and Public Forums on Dyslexia

For many children, learning to read seems effortless and is a normal developmental milestone. However, for some children, they have to struggle with what appears to come naturally to others and without proper support, are unable to make sense of the printed word. These children are dyslexic and suffer from dyslexia, a reading disorder.

In line with the greater demand on the children’s academic excellence and mental health, dyslexic children should not be left unnoticed. The aim of the conference and public forum is to create public awareness on dyslexia and to educate members of the public, especially parents and teachers, on the manifestations of this disability and some examples of intervention strategies that have proven effective with dyslexic children elsewhere.

The conference and public forum aim to provide participants with:
• Awareness of the existence of dyslexia and learning difficulties amongst our school-going children
• Information and confidence in recognizing children who may need structured help in their reading and learning capabilities in as early stage of childhood as possible
• Understanding in the evidence-based principles of early intervention for children with dyslexia and learning difficulties
• Resources to help children with dyslexia and learning difficulties in achieving their optimal potential
• A platform for discussion and networking in the intervention and remediation of children with dyslexia and learning difficulties

The proposed Conference and Public Forums on Dyslexia are co-organized by:
