Lingnan University wishes to make clear to the public that despite the use of the name “Lingnan University” within its title, LUSU is not endorsed by or associated with the University. The University hopes that as a result of this clarification, the public will not mistakenly conclude that any acts and statements of LUSU are endorsed by the University, or that the acts and statements of LUSU represent the viewpoints and positions of the University.

Lingnan University
- Lingnan University (“University”) is located in Hong Kong and established under the Lingnan University Ordinance (Cap. 1165).
- Lingnan University Students’ Union (“LUSU”) is an external organization registered by the Societies Office of the Hong Kong Police Force pursuant to the Societies Ordinance (Cap.151).
- On various occasions in recent years, it has come to the University’s attention that LUSU, its Executive Committee Members and/or its associated bodies including but not limited to the LUSU Press Bureau have engaged in certain acts and made certain statements which are inconsistent with the core values, mission, vision and the overall purposes and objectives of the University. These statements and acts have raised grave concerns across the University community, caused damage to the University’s reputation, and may also have given rise to legal risks.
- The University wishes to point out that (1) LUSU as an externally registered society is not authorized to conduct any activities and is not provided with any sponsorship, space or facility in the University; (2) LUSU does not have any relationship or association with the University; and (3) the continued inclusion of the words "Lingnan University" in LUSU’s name is without any support, agreement or authorization of the University.
