□ The Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST; President Kunwoo Lee) hosted the Opening Ceremony of the Convergence Talent Academy at the auditorium in the Research Administration Building (R1) at 5:00 p.m. on August 21 (Thursday). Thus, complete operations of the academy began. In this event, President Kunwoo Lee from DGIST, County Mayor Jaehoon Choi of Dalseong-gun, and Chairperson Eunyoung Kim of the Dalseong-gun Council celebrated the launch of the Convergence Talent Academy to develop talented individuals for the future.
□ The purpose of the DGIST Convergence Talent Academy is to develop the next generation of talented individuals with creative problem-solving skills and an adventurous spirit through interdisciplinary education based on advanced science and technology. In the first year, the Convergence Talent Academy will launch the Science and Creativity School, fully funded by Dalseong-gun, and provide local students with differentiated educational programs based on DGIST’s outstanding facilities and faculty members.
□ “The DGIST Convergence Talent Academy will serve as not only a place for education, but also a cradle for developing talented individuals in the future who realize the values of creativity and challenge,” said DGIST President Kunwoo Lee in his welcoming remarks. “DGIST shall combine our educational and research capabilities and fully support students to develop the ability to discover and solve problems independently through the Convergence Talent Academy.”
□ “It is deeply meaningful for Dalseong-gun to begin a new chapter with DGIST in developing talented individuals for the future,” said County Mayor Jaehoon Choi of Dalseong-gun in his celebratory remarks. “The Convergence Talent Academy will not only provide local students with the best educational opportunities but also serve as an important stepping stone to grow Dalseong-gun into a future science city. Dalseong-gun shall remain fully committed to creating an educational environment where adolescents can pursue their dreams.”
□ Meanwhile, with this opening ceremony, DGIST will further strengthen its interdisciplinary education and research capabilities and establish itself as a hub for developing human resources at the global level.
