□ Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST; President Lee Kunwoo) will host the 32nd DGIST Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS) featuring Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) Professor Choi Sung-hyun in Room L29 of DGIST E7 (Consilience Hall) at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4th.
The guest speaker, Prof. Choi, is a world-renowned authority in the field of next-generation wireless communications and networks. He is currently a professor at KAIST and a fellow at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has achieved outstanding research results spanning both academia and industry, having previously served as a professor at Seoul National University, a senior researcher at Philips Research in the U.S., and a vice president at Samsung Electronics.
□ The lecture will be held under the theme “Beyond Connectivity: AI-RAN, 6G, and the Future of Intelligent Network Infrastructure.” Prof. Choi will introduce the latest trends in wireless networking and mobile computing technologies, including AI-native networks and AI Radio Access Network (AI-RAN), and will discuss the future direction of intelligent networks in the 6G (sixth generation of cellular mobile communications technology) era.
□ In particular, this lecture will provide an in-depth exploration of how the convergence of AI and telecommunications technology will revolutionize the future network industry. It is expected to offer DGIST members, as well as researchers in related fields, a meaningful opportunity to gain insight into the latest developments in future telecommunications technology.
□ “We are delighted to welcome Prof. Choi, who has led innovation in next-generation telecommunications technology in both industry and academia,” said DGIST President Lee Kunwoo. “This lecture is expected to help our researchers to gain a deep understanding of AI- and 6G-based future network technologies, and even function as a catalyst to expand the possibilities for new interdisciplinary research.”
□ The DGIST DLS is a regular lecture series that invites leading scholars from South Korea and abroad to share global research trends and build a global academic network. Through this, DGIST plans to vitalize academic exchange in the fields of AI-based communications and next-generation networks and further strengthen its global competitiveness in information and communications technology research.
