□ DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee) announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KMEDIhub (Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation; Chairman Gu-sun Park) at DGIST’s administration building on Tuesday the 25th to promote the advancement of science, technology, and the advanced medical industries in Korea.
□ The agreement was established to create a framework for close cooperation between the two institutions, which share a recognition of the need for joint research in the advanced medical and biomedical industries. Through this partnership, the institutions will work together to accelerate the development and commercialization of core technologies in Korea’s biomedical and medical industries, extending their impact beyond the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region.
□ Under the agreement, the two institutions plan to actively cooperate in various areas, including (1) joint research on technology development, nonclinical testing, and technology commercialization in the advanced medical industry; (2) exchanges of research personnel and the training of specialized personnel; (3) the shared use of advanced research facilities, equipment, and space; and (4) the exchange of the latest academic and technical information.
□ In particular, the collaboration is expected to generate significant synergies by combining DGIST’s world-class research personnel and capabilities in basic science and technology with KMEDIhub’s advanced medical demonstration infrastructure. Going beyond research collaboration alone, the partnership is expected to establish “a new model for success in Korea’s biomedical and medical ecosystem” by helping translate technologies into practical clinical applications.
□ “One of the biggest challenges in the biomedical and medical fields today is the commercializing technologies that have been developed so that they can be applied in real-world settings,” said DGIST President Kunwoo Lee. “By creating synergies between DGIST’s innovative technologies and KMEDIhub’s advanced infrastructure, rather than allowing these technologies to remain confined to the laboratory, we will help drive Korea’s advanced medical industry toward global leadership.”

□ Meanwhile, the two institutions plan to faithfully implement the terms of this agreement based on mutual trust and further expand substantive joint research and exchanges of personnel and material resources in specific areas through additional agreements in the future.
