□ DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee) announced that it will host an outdoor cultural event, “Biseul Four Seasons: Autumn Edition – When Film Meets Jazz”—which DGIST members and local residents can enjoy together—in collaboration with the Dalseong Culture City Center of the Dalseong Cultural Foundation on Thursday, October 29, at 5:30 p.m., in and around the Garden of Time on the DGIST campus.
□ “Biseul Four Seasons,” named after Mount Biseul where DGIST is located, was created to engage with university members and the local community through diverse cultural programs each season. Following the spring and summer editions, this autumn edition, themed “When Film Meets Jazz,” will offer a special autumn evening featuring live jazz performances accompanied by music from films and the stories behind them.
□ The event will feature special guest appearances by actor Park Joong-hoon, known for his roles in Radio Star and Tidal Wave, and the prolific film music director Hwang Sangjun. Hosted by jazz commentator Ari Kim, CEO of ARTLET Co., Ltd., the event will present to audiences vivid accounts of memorable movie scenes, stories behind the music, and anecdotes from the guests’ experiences working on their productions, while providing opportunities to interact with them.
□ Live performances will be presented by the five-member “Kaon Kim Jazz Quintet,” led by jazz pianist Kaon Kim. Featuring piano, vocals, trumpet, double bass, and drums, the quintet will present fresh jazz interpretations of popular songs from famous films, offering audiences a uniquely moving musical experience on a crisp autumn evening.
□ Particularly, this will be a complimentary open-air cultural event for all local residents, as well as DGIST students, faculty, and staff. Audiences could spread out picnic blankets on the green lawns of the campus and enjoy stories about films and live jazz performances in a relaxed atmosphere. Through this event, DGIST intends to expand the role of its science- and technology-focused campus into a space where the university and local community can enjoy cultural activities and interact with one another.
□ Visitors may enter the event venue starting at 5:00 p.m., and the main performance is scheduled to run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Additional programs—and a coffee truck—will also be available to provide visitors a delightful experience. Further details are available on www.dgist.ac.kr.
□ “Biseul Four Seasons was created to expand the role of the campus—a space for scientific and technological research and education—into a space where DGIST members and the local community can enjoy cultural events together and interact with one another,” said Ju Tak Han, Director of DGIST’s Office of General Administration. “I hope this autumn edition will provide a valuable opportunity to appreciate the appeal of films and jazz in everyday life and share our tastes and the emotions they evoke. We will continue to offer a variety of programs that DGIST members and local residents can enjoy together.”
