DGIST successfully hosts “2026 D-RUNNER,” bringing together science and technology professionals in Dalseong.

- Approximately 700 members of related institutions in Dalseong-gun participated, creating a space for communication and unity toward a future in which Dalseong is connected through science and technology and grows through cooperation.

□ DGIST (President Kunwoo Lee) announced that it successfully hosted “D-RUNNER (Dalseong Science and Technology Professionals Marathon)” on October 28 at the DGIST campus.

□ Approximately 700 participants from 11 related organizations and institutions took part in the event, including students, faculty, and staff of DGIST, the organizing institution, as well as personnel from the Dalseong-gun Office, Daegu National Science Museum, Daegu Dalseong Police Station, Dalseong Fire Station, and the Daegyeong Technology Application Division of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH).

□ This event expanded the existing on-campus marathon, which had primarily centered on DGIST members, into an opportunity for regional unity, bringing together science and technology organizations in Dalseong-gun and related institutions that support them. It provided an opportunity for members of local institutions who had been dedicated to their work in laboratories and offices to run together, improve their health, bridge the gaps between institutions, foster personal connections through positive communication, and strengthen communication and cooperation as they move forward together toward Dalseong’s future.

□ The event was regarded as an opportunity to strengthen the close-knit network of cooperation and sense of solidarity within the local community, as participants ran together along a 4.97-km course on the DGIST campus, cheering one another on, while members of various institutions contributing to regional development in different fields gathered to offer mutual encouragement.

□ “It is particularly meaningful to have expanded D-RUNNER, previously held as an on-campus event, into an opportunity for unity and engagement with related institutions in the region,” said DGIST President Kunwoo Lee. “DGIST will continue striving to become an open institution that engages closely with the local community, connects the region’s assets and capabilities, and grows together with the region through science and technology.”
