Steven Inchcoombe appointed Managing Director of Nature Publishing Group

Newly appointed Macmillan CEO Annette Thomas today announced that Steven Inchcoombe, currently Macmillan’s International Director, will become Managing Director of Nature Publishing Group (NPG) with immediate effect.

Steven joined the Macmillan Board just over a year ago and has been working closely with Macmillan Education, Macmillan India and Macmillan Production (Asia) Ltd (MPAL) in Hong-Kong with a keen focus on growth, profitability and digital strategy. Prior to that Steven was UK Publisher at The Financial Times newspaper having already held board positions at The Financial Times Group, and FT.com between 2000-2006. From 1990-2000 he was with Interactive Data Corporation, a specialist in digital and online services for financial institutions. Steven studied physics at Merton College, Oxford and qualified as a chartered accountant with PWC.

“I am delighted that Steven has accepted this new role. I have enjoyed working closely with him over the last year as a colleague on Macmillan’s executive board and as I now take on my new role as CEO it’s just wonderful to be able to entrust NPG’s future in such capable hands. Steven is dynamic, productive and insightful and he has incredible business acumen. He is also hugely likeable and will bring a new creative management style to NPG. His extensive experience in newspaper publishing, his involvement to date in NPG’s Business Development Steering Group, and his background in science also make him perfectly placed to lead NPG through its next phase of development”, said Annette Thomas.

Steven commented, “I am really honoured to have been offered this unique opportunity within the world of STM publishing and excited to take over the reigns from Annette, who has led the company from strength to strength over the last few years. NPG produces the very best of the best scientific and medical publishing and I look forward to the challenge of building on such firm foundations.”
