□ The Graduate School of Technology and Innovation Management (GSTIM) under the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST; President Kunwoo Lee) was officially launched on February 23, 2026, with the start of the spring semester in 2026.
□ The GSTIM has completed the recruitment of new students for the spring semester in 2026 and has taken a successful first step. A total of 42 students, consisting of 39 freshmen and 3 foreign exchange students, will begin their studies in this semester, the first semester since the school’s opening.
□ The successful start of the school is attributable to its differentiated curriculum that incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) into business management. Unlike other traditional management-centered graduate schools of technology and management, the GSTIM has designed a curriculum that greatly reinforces its engineering basis. With a curriculum that organically integrates mathematical science, computer science, and robotics around business management, the GSTIM is intended to develop talented business leaders with a higher level of technological understanding than any other graduate school of technology and management in Korea.
□ More notably, students who work and study at the same time will be able to develop AI utilization and management strategy skills, which allow them to design and implement AI agents for their own business environments upon graduation. It holds great significance, as it enables them to innovate tasks and advance decision-making in actual businesses beyond simply understanding AI.
□ The GSTIM offers a curriculum that reflects the needs of business leaders and practitioners who are highly interested in AI transformation (AX), which has recently emerged as a key topic in business management. Through this curriculum, the GSTIM plans to meet the needs of business leaders for AI adoption and utilization, and to develop experts who can lead practical AI-based innovation in management.
□ Its faculty provides both academic depth and practical insights, as it consists of full-time faculty members of DGIST along with invited and visiting professors with years of teaching and research experience from top universities in Korea, such as Seoul National University and KAIST.
□ “Beyond traditional theory-centered management education, we focused on developing practical talent who design AI models and solve problems in real-world business settings by themselves,” said Dean Wujin Chu of the GSTIM. “Starting with this first semester, we will set a new standard for interdisciplinary education that tears down the boundaries between technology and management.”
□ With this first semester, the GSTIM will present a new standard for technology and management education to take the lead in the AI era, and position itself as a hub for nurturing key talent who contribute to industry and society in Korea and around the world.
