DGIST Shares Briquettes and Bread...Spreading Warmth to the Local Community

- Delivered 9,313 briquettes to four vulnerable families - Donated 668 loaves of bread baked by DGIST employees to the local community

□ Employees at the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science & Technology (DGIST; President: Kunwoo Lee) came together to support underprivileged neighbors in the local community during the winter. On December 6, they delivered 668 loaves of bread baked during a group activity to Hodongwon in Nam-gu, Daegu, and Hyokyung Senior Care Center in Dalseong-gun. On December 13, they distributed 9,313 briquettes to four vulnerable families, helping them stay warm throughout the season. These efforts reflect DGIST's commitment to social responsibility and fostering co-existence with the local community.

□ DGIST has consistently promoted co-existence with the local community through a variety of volunteer activities every year. This year’s briquette-sharing and baking initiatives were designed to provide practical support and warmth to underprivileged neighbors, with employees’ voluntary participation adding deeper significance to the efforts.

□ The baking initiative was part of the 2024 DGIST Intensive Integrity Week. Ten employees volunteered at the Korean Red Cross Western Volunteer Center to bake bread, which was delivered to welfare organizations. This activity not only fostered solidarity with the local community but also reinforced the value of integrity. DGIST aims to continue promoting the spirit of integrity and sharing through future initiatives.

□ The briquette-sharing effort marked its second year. DGIST members raised about KRW7.916 million, which was donated to the Love Briquette Sharing Movement. This funding enabled the delivery of 9,313 briquettes to four families in Sincheon-dong, Daegu. They spent a meaningful time delivering briquettes and helping neighbors to prepare for winter.

□ Hyungwook Cho, Head of the Office of General Administration at DGIST, stated, “DGIST will continue to organize a variety of volunteer activities for vulnerable groups. We aim to grow alongside the local community and promote a culture of sharing through initiatives such as briquette sharing, baking, and other various social contribution programs.”
