Kathrine Camille A. Nagal
Ms. Nagal is an alumnae of the University of Santo Tomas, who graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the College of Education and a Master in Business Administration major in Entrepreneurship from the UST Graduate School.
She has been with the academe for more than 10 years, having experienced working in several institutions and under different capacities as academic staff and as an administrator herself. Prior to her engagement with the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, she was involved in the pioneering project of Dusit Thani International to create the first fully-integrated hotel school in the Philippines and in Asia, in partnership with, and patterned after, the oldest hospitality school in the world – Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne. As the academic lead for the project, she managed the program and course development for the hotel-school and acted as consultant to other academic-related functions and departments.
Ms. Nagal has also engaged in many research activities and projects, from mentoring undergraduate students who were able to either present their work in international fora or publish their work in both local and international media to co-authoring researches with colleagues in the academe. She was also part of the UST-CTHM team responsible for the development of the Davao MICE Strategic Management Plan which was the basis for the creation of Davao’s MICE Bureau and Davao City Ordinance No. 0979-22 series of 2022 also known as the MICE Ordinance of Davao City, and the MICE Strategic Management Plan for Clark Freeport Zone commissioned by Clark Development Corporation.
She is an accreditor for the PACUCOA, a Qualified Learning Facilitator of Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, a certified ServSafe Food Handler, a former ISO Lead Auditor (ISO 9001:2015), an active member of the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP) and member of its National Board of Directors from 2022 to present, a member of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines’ (HRAP) COMELEC since 2017, and an active member of the Philippine Association of Researchers for Tourism and Hospitality (PARTH), the Tourism Industry Foundation Board (TIBFI), and the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE).
As a full-time academic staff for the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, she handles courses in Risk Management, Strategic Management, Negotiations in Hospitality, Ergonomics and Facilities Planning, and Recreational and Leisure Management, among many others. She is also concurrently the College Coordinator for International Relations and Programs and an Affiliate and Associate Researcher for the UST Sentro Turismo.
