Lingnan University in Hong Kong and the Center of International Innovation for Technology and Science sign an agreement of scientific and technological collaboration.
Lingnan University’s School of Interdisciplinary Studies (SIS) andthe Center of International Innovation for Technology and Science (CIITS), signed a Cooperation Framework Agreement at the InnoBay · Future Industry Forum——Shenzhen-Hong Kong Exchange Session (CIITS) in the Shenzhen Park of Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone yesterday (16 January). Prof Chen Xi, Dean of SIS, and Mr Liu Renchen, Director of the CIITS, signed on behalf of both parties, injecting new momentum into promoting scientific and technological innovation cooperation.
In accordance with the agreement, both parties will collaborate closely in developing an industrialisation platform, jointly establish research centres and laboratories, and support the transformation into achievements of key research projects in fields such as biomedicine and high-performance materials. They will also explore opportunities for collaboration with leading enterprises and the creation of major national scientific research infrastructure such as large-scale scientific equipment in Shenzhen, and an innovation fund to invest in and incubate science and technology innovation businesses.
In addition, both parties will share resources and build up a pool of experts to foster new creative conditions through co-organised industry-focused seminars and exchange activities. This cooperation agreement leverages the strengths of both parties, and encourages expert exchanges and collaborative research innovation.
Prof Xin Yao, Vice-President (Research and Innovation) and Tong Tin Sun Chair Professor of Machine Learning of Lingnan University, believes the cooperation will bring substantial benefits to the development of Greater Bay Area and innovative industries. He said “I hope both parties can create a globally oriented, internationally leading platform for major technological innovation and industrialisation to promote the transformation of R&D outcomes. Lingnan University will work closely with the Center in areas such as laboratory equipment, talent cultivation, and scientific research projects, driving the development of innovation and technology enterprises.”
Prof Guo Yong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, and Mr Ernest Chan Chi-man, Vice-President (Administration) at Lingnan University, both made speeches at the event.

This collaboration leverages the complementary strengths of both parties, with the CIITS possessing a powerful industrialisation platform and resource network, while Lingnan University brings strengths in international perspective and innovative research. We will also jointly plan the establishment of an innovation fund to provide strong support for the development of technology-driven enterprises, creating a new model for collaborative innovation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong.”
