The MOU signing ceremony took place on 28 March 2025, in the presence of Prof Raymond Chan Hon-fu, Vice-President (Academics) cum Provost and Lam Man Tsan Chair Professor of Scientific Computing of Lingnan University; Prof Chen Zhimin, Vice President of Fudan University; and Mr Shen Guolin, Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of Fudan University. The agreement was signed by Dr Louisa Lam Mei-chun, Chief Information Officer and University Librarian of Lingnan University, and Prof Chen Yinchi, Chief Librarian of Fudan University Library, establishing a solid foundation for future collaboration between the two libraries.
According to the MOU, both libraries will collaborate on four key areas, including professional exchanges between librarians, specialised training for library and information professionals, the joint organisation of cultural activities that benefit the personal growth of students from both universities, and the joint development and sharing of special collections and digital resources.
Prof Chen Zhimin, Vice President of Fudan University, shared with the guests Fudan’s leading position in research and artificial intelligence, expressing his hopes for the two libraries to collaborate closely in advancing the development of library and information services.
Prof Raymond Chan Hon-fu, Vice-President (Academics) cum Provost at Lingnan University, expressed his aspirations that this MOU would serve as a valuable opportunity for further exploration with Fudan University, particularly in areas such as student exchanges, interdisciplinary curriculum design, and joint research projects.
Following the signing ceremony, Dr Louisa Lam delivered a thematic presentation titled “Digital Transformation of Lingnan University Library: Technology Integration and Service Innovation”, in which she shared with Fudan Library staff on various aspects, including library space renovation, user-oriented modern management, and the service transformation driven by technology. She also discussed the challenges faced by libraries in recent years and the strategies implemented to address them.
Lingnan University library staff, led by Dr Hou Liqiang, Deputy Director of Fudan University Library, and Ms Shi Weihua, Deputy Secretary of Fudan University Library, visited the Special Collections Center, Humanities Library, Jiangwan Library, and Medical Science Library. They engaged in in-depth discussions with the staff, exchanged insights about each other’s work, and shared experiences. They also expressed hopes to expand the scope of cooperation, particularly in library operations and digital communication. Lingnan University extends a sincere invitation to the Fudan colleagues to visit Lingnan campus in the future.
