Senior Associate Professor Zheng Chen
Dr. Zheng Chen is an environmental chemist and associate professor at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, where he has been teaching since 2014. His research interests include nutrient recycling from agricultural waste by using microbial fuel cells; biogeochemical processes of redox-active elements across narrow soil-water interface and rhizosphere in wetlands; analytical tools for element measurement; and remediation of contaminated wetlands.
He received his Master of Science degree in Environmental Sciences at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and his PhD degree in Agricultural Chemistry from Hokkaido University. His past experiences include visiting scholar at the Aquatic Chemistry Research Group, Lancaster University, postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology in CAS, and freelance science writer for The Science News Magazine.
