Keio University -Karolinska Institutet GCOE Summer School 2008 started

Karolinska Institutet is one of Europe's largest medical universities. It is also Sweden´s largest center for medical training and research, located in Stockholm, Sweden. Keio University has entered into the agreement with Karolinska Institutet in 2007.

On July 7, 2008, Keio University -Karolinska Institutet GCOE Summer School 2008 opened
on Shinanomachi campus. It is organized in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet of
Sweden and Keio University Global Center of Excellence Program ”Center for Human
Metabolomic Systems Biology.” During the first week of “Lecture Course,” active professors
from Japan and abroad delivered a series of lectures attracting large audience. On July 10,
special lectures were given at Embassy of Sweden. All the participants deepened
exchanges and enjoyed Swedish cuisine through lectures and a reception.

The aim of Summer school is networking at graduate school level, enhancing a new
relationship and exchanging of views under the support of Global COE program(MEXT*1)
and JSPS*2 Core-to-Core Program inviting 4 professors and 6 graduate students of
Karolinska Institutet . After a week of “Lecture Course,” the tireless students have
been engaged in “Lab. Work” at separate departments for 4 weeks.
