UPM’s Sports Academy Chosen To Assist RMN Athletes

The Sports Control Council (LEKAS) of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has recently selected University Putra Malaysia’s Sports Academy as their official consultant on physical and psychology for their athletes.

Assistant Director of UPM’s Sports Academy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nazrul Hakim Abdullah informed the media that UPM’s services to RMN in preparing the athletes for local and international championships particularly in the sailing, volley ball and cycling events has entered the third year since 2007.

“UPM’s Sports Academy will also conduct 14 sports science courses for the RMN athletes in 2009 where the courses comprised of six new options and about 60% take form in practical session meant to attract the interest of RMN athletes,” he was quoted saying.

He listed out the courses which are Weight Management, Sports Injury, Sports Development and Enhancement, Sports Dietary and Performance as well as Sports Massage.

Among the RMN athletes who will represent the country are Norazimah Mat Rased, a silver medallist for the 2008 International Judo Championship, Ishak Jab in sailing and Mohd Nor Ridzuan Zainal in the cycling event.

UPM’s Sports Academy is also the physical and psychology consultant for Felda United football club who will compete in the 2009 Premiere League.
