The lecture, organized by the Centre for the Study of World Religions (CSWR) at Harvard’s Divinity School, will be held on the Ist of October 2009. Dr. Chandra’s lecture is themed, “A World in Crisis: The Relevance of Spiritual-Moral Principles.”
While at Harvard, Chandra will also give a talk on “Islam and Politics in Malaysia” at the Asia Centre on the 2nd of October. He is also scheduled to speak on “Muslim Minorities: To Be or Not to Be” in the ‘Islam in the West’ programme on the 30th of September.
Chandra has been a guest speaker at the CSWR in previous years. He has also spoken at the Harvard YenChing Institute and participated in programmes of the Harvard law School.
Dr. Chandra Muzaffar, 62, a political scientist, is the Noordin Sopiee Professor of Global Studies at USM. His research focuses upon “The Role of Religion in a Globalising World.” A number of monographs have been published on this theme. Seminars and conferences have also been organised to develop a deeper understanding of the relationship between religion and globalization in the contemporary world.
