FRIM wins 3 Silver & 3 Bronze at MTE 2010

The Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) researchers received three silver and three bronze medals at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE 2010)

The Expo was held at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, from 4 till 6 February.

This year, FRIM submitted seven entries for the Invention and Innovation Awards at the MTE 2010.

The Resin Impregnated Oil Palm Flooring, Engineered Flooring from Oil Palm Trunk and Super Palmply (super palm plywood from oil palm trunk) garnered silver medals, while the Environmentally Friendly Carbonisation using the Drum Method, Synthetic Seeds of Timber Species: An Alternative for Sustainable Planting Material for Commercial Plantations, and Fabrication of a Recognition Process for Agarwood Classification using Modified E-nose received bronze.

Themed “Driving Innovation Towards Commercialisation”, the MTE 2010 was officially launched by Secretary to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Planning Division Mohamad Badri on behalf of the Minister, Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili on 4 February.

This is the ninth year that the MTE was held and it is the first in the list of 200 activities lined up under the Innovative Malaysia 2010 programme. There were more than 500 entries, with 55 entries from overseas.
