Hafeez Babar Leads UPMISA

A final year international student of Land Resource Management course from the Faculty of Agriculture Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Hafeez Babar won the Presidency seat for Universiti Putra Malaysia International Students Association (UPMISA).

He won the election by 11 votes against Nsamba Hussein Kisiki of Uganda who secured 7 votes. The voters represented 22 Asian countries like Uganda, Yemen, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Myanmar.

Hafeez, who is hailed from Pakistan took over from UPMISA’s ex- President Roshidul Hasan of Bangladesh, who won during the previous election.

“As the new UPMISA’s President, I vow to live up to my responsibility”.

“We’re looking at varying our activities especially sports related such as futsal and football participated by UPM international students and to have international students from other universities as our opponents,” he added.

He is also considering to organize more seminars and workshops to complement the academic parcel, for instance the recently held seminar on International Students Security and Protection.

As for the posts of Vice President, General Secretary, Financial Secretary and Assistant General Secretary; the winners won uncontested.
