The International Union of Forestry Research Organisations (IUFRO) conference, from 7 to 12 March, provides a platform for exchange of ideas and information amongst researchers and practitioners in forest genetics, breeding and conservation; to discuss and evaluate the latest approaches and techniques in forest genetics research and management of forest genetic resources; and to promote international cooperation and networking amongst practitioners and researchers involved in forest genetics, breeding and conservation.
Jointly organised by IUFRO, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Universiti Putra Malaysia, and Biodiversity International, the conference is attended by 150 participants including speakers from 22 countries.
IUFRO is a non-profit, non-governmental international network of forest scientists, which aims to promote global cooperation in forest-related research and enhance the understanding of the ecological, economic and social aspects of forests.
