UM Don elected as Chairman of IChemE (Malaysia) for 2016

Professor Ir. Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Raman from the Chemical Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya was elected as the Chairman of IChemE (Malaysia) in its AGM on 7th March 2015 for 2016-2017 period.

Professor Ir. Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Raman from the Chemical Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya was elected as the Chairman of IChemE (Malaysia) in its AGM on 7th March 2015 for 2016-2017 period.

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) is a professional organization founded in 1922 and has since expanded over 120 countries worldwide with around 40,000 members currently. It has offices in the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. IChemE Malaysia was launched in 2006 and is based in Kuala Lumpur to provide support to its members in the region.

Standing out as a professional body that awards Chartered Engineer, Chartered Scientist and Chartered Environmentalist titles, IChemE has its vision of building and sustaining an international professional community; promoting and developing chemical engineering; providing support to individuals and others who practice chemical engineering and; encouraging communication among chemical engineers and their interaction with other engineering disciplines.

It is indeed an honor for University of Malaya to be part of this prestigious professional body. Prof. Ir. Dr. Abdul Aziz is an active member for the past 9 years. We believe that under the leadership of Prof Dr. Aziz, there will be greater synergy between the industry, UM and IChemE. His first-hand knowledge on the latest industrial needs will definitely help the university to contribute to the developmental needs of the nation, especially in the field of chemical engineering.
