Road Safety Comes First During Aidilfitri - PM

SERDANG, 3 September – The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak appealed to motorists to drive safely on their way back home in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.

The Prime Minister urged motorists that safety should take precedence over their excitement of going home during the celebration, at the same time to be concerned of safety of others.

““At the same time we should discipline ourselves to adhere to road safety regulations,” he said in his road safety message launched by Minister of Works, Dato’ Shaziman Abu Mansor held at the Fifth College, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

He also reminded the younger generation to observe road safety.

Majlis turut dihadiri Timbalan Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Ismail Omar dan Naib Canselor UPM, Prof. Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Nik Mustapha Abdullah.

Pada majlis itu, Dato’ Shaziman turut melepaskan konvoi 20 kenderaan pelajar dan 3 bas UPM balik ke kampung masing-masing.

The event was attended by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Ismail Omar and Vice Chancellor of UPM, Prof. Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Nik Mustapha Abdullah.

At the event, Dato’ Shaziman flagged off a convoy of 20 students’ motor vehicles and 3 UPM buses that would be heading back to the students’ hometown.

He also handed over 15 patrol cars for the Royal Malaysian Police and 6 vans for St. John Ambulance as well as the Red Crescent Society sponsored by PLUS Expressway Berhad (PLUS).

The event was put together by UPM’s Student Representatives Council (MPP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Works, Malaysian Highway Authority, Plus Expressways Bhd, Oriental Businesslink Sdn Bhd, Royal Malaysian Police Force and Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad.
